It will take place on Thursday 1st December from 4-6pm at the IAD offices in Bristo Square, Edinburgh.
The University of Edinburgh and Local Industry - an Informal Networking EventFollowing the success of 'An Opportunity for Industry Event' at the University of Aberdeen; Making the Most of Masters (MMM) and the Institute of Academic Development (IAD) at the University of Edinburgh are hosting an informal networking event. It will take place on Thursday 1 December from 4-6pm at the IAD offices in Bristo Square, Edinburgh. The purpose of the evening is to bring together representatives of the University and local industry to identify opportunities for engagement with masters students. The MMM team are working with masters programmes from Edinburgh College of Art, the Business School, the School of Biological Sciences and the newly launched multi-disciplinary Global Academies of Health, Development and Environment & Society. Representatives will be on hand to discuss their programmes, academic research, and previous student projects. Dr Sue Rigby, Assistant Principal Taught Postgraduate Programmes will outline the University of Edinburgh’s commitment to engage with industry and create opportunities to enhance the employability of its graduates. In addition to academic staff, colleagues from other areas of the University involved with public engagement will also be present to highlight the wider opportunities on offer to local industry. This includes the Careers Service, Knowledge Exchange and Edinburgh Global. Furthermore, MMM colleagues from the University of Aberdeen and the University of Stirling will be on hand to represent participating programmes from their institutions. This event represents just one of the many ways that Making the Most of Masters can engage with programmes, schools and colleges to bring academia and industry closer together.
